Mickey Ride Now Open... Sort Of...

“Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway”, the Disney World (& soon to be Disneyland) ride, has finally opened to the public… just in time for the world to shut down due to the coronavirus! We had our plane tickets to Orlando bought and everything! Stupid pandemic.

I can finally post some of the work done for the ride, so I thought I’d start with the posters I made for the entry line. These are all based on shorts from different seasons, done in a classic movie poster full page style.

What a Year...

It’s been well over a year since I last updated my portfolio/blog, and the time has absolutely flown by. This has unquestionably been one of the busiest years of my life, both professionally and personally, and I know I’m not alone in wondering where the time went.

The world is most definitely a different place than it was when I last posted on here! I can’t specifically say what all I’ve been working on just yet (some things in development, some things currently in post, etc.), but I’m really excited about what the future holds… even if we’re stuck at home for the time being!

One good thing to come from this year was Mickey’s being awarded the Annie Award for Best TV/Media Children’s production!

While many things have changed, others are still the same- so here’s a big ol’ batch of Disney Mickey Mouse Shorts highlights from the latter half of the latest season. I’ve been Art Directing these for several years now, and the challenge each short presents is always unique and interesting. I hope you enjoy!

Coming Up For Air...

I can't believe it's been so long since I last posted anything on here. So much has happened in the year and a half since I posted about the Mickey Christmas Special. I'm Art Directing the Shorts now. There's a MICKEY RIDE in the works for Walt Disney World. (This is one of many promotional images I did up for that.)

And in about a week's time I'm going to walk out on stage to receive an Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation for Background Design on our Halloween Special that came out last year!

I'm still in shock about that one. It likely won't become real for me until I'm out on stage with a completely blank mind and a quickly growing dark spot across the front of my tux pants.

On that cheerful note, I'm going to do an enormous Mickey artwork dump now. I think this lot should cover some highlights for all of Season 4 and the Halloween Special. (Disclaimer: This post is going to get annoyingly large, so I hope I don't run into issues. Might end up being several posts.) All images © Disney TVA.

Well I finally have a break from an insanely busy work schedule, and can post up some more Mickey Mouse shorts goodness.

Because I've neglected this blog for so long, this post will be on the hefty side. Hopefully I can get it all to upload properly!

In other Mickey news, we just took home a REPEAT win at the Emmys for Outstanding Short Format Animated Program! This time we won specifically for our "O Sole Minnie" short, examples from which can be found 2-3 blog posts ago. Massive Congratulations to everybody involved.
